Construction of a new two-storey one form entry primary school, delivered under the Constructing West Midlands Framework and managed by Entrust.
Providing essential school and nursery places in the region, Anna Seward Primary School forms part of the Staffordshire County Council’s wider plan to expand primary and nursery provision within the West Midlands.
As part of our on-going working relationship with Staffordshire County Council, the Anna Seward Primary School is the sixth project to be delivered, increasing more school places within the Staffordshire area.
The school comprises state-of-the-art classrooms, a library, large hall, a dedicated design and technology room and a full production kitchen to provide healthy meals for pupils and staff.
The new facility offers 210 primary and 26 nursery places to the local community stemming from local demand for primary school places in response to new housing developments within the Lichfield area. The 1,500 sqm site also houses car parking facilities, the formation of pedestrian and vehicular ways and landscaping.
The building makes good use of natural light, ventilation, and technology to provide modern energy-efficient spaces, as well as modern outdoor formal and informal play spaces and is managed by the highly successful Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP), which manages six other facilities in Lichfield.
Throughout the construction period we maintained close communication with local residents by issuing regular newsletters to keep them informed of progress and planned activities.
Just in time deliveries were arranged to avoid congestion to the surrounding roads and our delivery schedule was shared with the adjacent house builder to plan and arrange deliveries in conjunction with the separate site activities.
Project highlights

- A local T Level student spent five weeks on site
- 98 per cent of construction waste generated on site was diverted from landfill – contributing positively to the local environment and the national carbon net-zero agenda
- 2,445 miles were recorded of staff travel using low-emission vehicles.
