Interclass successfully completed and handed over two new modular operating theatres and supporting accommodation at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. This development is a vital component of the Trust’s Clinical Services Strategy, aimed at establishing Alexandra Hospital as a centre of excellence for elective surgery and addressing the increased patient waiting lists resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The modular theatres were constructed off-site, allowing for swift installation and minimal disruption to the ongoing hospital operations. This approach not only reduced the construction timeline but also ensured rigorous quality control throughout the build process.

Upon delivery in March 2023, the modular theatres were seamlessly installed and integrated into the existing hospital structure. A new circulation core was developed to connect the theatres to the existing first-floor theatre suite, ensuring smooth and efficient patient and staff movement between the facilities.

Completed in November 2023, the supporting accommodation includes staff changing facilities and dedicated recovery spaces designed to enhance both patient experience and staff morale. Featuring artwork and comfortable environments, these spaces signify a significant milestone for Alexandra Hospital and the broader Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
