Radcliffe Conference Centre, The University of Warwick
Partner: GF Tomlinson
The modernisation of the Radcliffe Conference Centre – a 154-bed residential, conference and training centre located on the University of Warwick campus – created a ‘boutique hotel experience’ for guests with the aim of increasing delegate bookings for accommodation and conferences.
The three-phase project involved the internal refurbishment of all bedroom accommodation, meeting rooms, bar, reception and lounge areas, including complete M&E strip out and replacement.
The conference centre now boasts refreshed meeting spaces, relaxing decor that inspires and a revamped bar and lounge area.
Radcliffe Conference Centre remained open to customers and delegates and strict management controls were employed to ensure all works were executed in a well-managed and safe manner. Regular liaison with the Conference Centre Management Team ensured all planned works were communicated, staff and customer access was maintained, and disruption was minimised.
The project phasing strategy was developed with the University during the pre-construction period with works planned around the access and operational requirements of the Centre. This strategy was continually reviewed and refined over the course of the construction. Supply chain partners were engaged during the second stage tender period to ensure their full understanding of the client requirements regarding programme milestones.
