Overview of the project
This multi-million pound redevelopment project has transformed the Edgbaston Priory Club into a world class facility for racquet sport. It is the Club’s ambition to become one of the premier racquet and leisure clubs in the country.
New facilities for sport and leisure
The facilities include a new six-court indoor tennis centre and a permanent grass show court together with new squash, gym and leisure facilities and a major refurbishment of the clubhouse, bar and restaurant.
Benefits for the wider community
The construction of the indoor tennis centre and show court will enable the Club to host international tournament such as the annual AEGON Classic. The AEGON Classic brings many visitors to the city and is estimated to be worth in excess of £9m to the local economy.
The new facilities also play a central part helping to grow community access to tennis in Birmingham and across the region as well as enhancing the Club’s status as a High Performance Centre for nurturing talented young tennis players.
