The design and build project, known as First Point, Doncaster, covers a total area of 15.5 acres consists of the construction of three distinct zones. The primary building is a major new retail unit for Morrisons PLC with a sales floor space of c7500m2. The building has been designed to provide a further future sales floor expansion facility of c1200m2 together with dedicated service yard, warehouse, docks and plant areas.
The £4.5m retail fit-out elements were instructed directly by Morrisons to our City & Interiors Division following detailed coordination development by both construction teams. This has led to significant programme and cost savings using what is effectively a single project delivery team working in true collaboration to achieve the most efficient completion date in readiness for public trading. This part of the project also includes a 610 space public car-park, purpose designed re-cycling zone and extensive landscaping within the Strategic Projects elements of works.
The second building on the site will be a new build to provide a state of the art `managed Workspace` office accommodation with around 2700m2 of net lettable area. These works will include a full fit-out by Strategic Projects and a further 125 space dedicated car-parking facility. The final zone is to construct a 280 space public Park & Ride Facility that will be handed over South Yorkshire Public Transport Executive upon completion. This will also have state of the art vehicle counting and digital timetable systems.
All three zones will have major highway improvement works completed to provide dedicated accesses.
