Launch of CWM Future’s Network
Breaking barriers: CWM Future’s Network launches groundbreaking cross company initiatives of public speaking and mentoring.
On January 23rd, CWM Future’s Network officially launched at Acivico offices in Birmingham, marking a large milestone for CWM and the West Midlands construction industry.
The event brought together CWM sponsors Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Acivico Limited and construction partners, Willmott Dixon, Morgan Sindall, Galliford Try, Interclass, Seddon, Speller Metcalfe, and GF Tomlinson to launch a fantastic opportunity for fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional development within the sector.
The launch event was opened with an inspiring address from Marina Robertson, followed by a panel discussion of ‘Why Mentoring Matters’ with input from industry leaders;
- Sara Barnes, Preconstuction and Marketing Manager (Interclass)
- Sabina Ahmed, Estimator (Morgan Sindall)
- Jennie Hennessey, Regional Head of Business Development (Willmott Dixon)
- Kim Davies, Communications and Engagment Manager (Speller Metcalfe)
- Andrea Wilson (Seddon)
The event welcomed professionals from all levels of seniority, from apprentices to directors, to kickstart our two groundbreaking cross company public speaking and mentoring initiatives.
These were explored further in three engaging breakout sessions:
- A pilot public speaking inititiative
- A mentoring ‘speed dating’ session
- A discussion relating to social media campaign
The launch has been a resounding success, achieveing several key milestones of matching mentors to mentees, the first three public speaking sessions have been scheduled and also an opportunity to identify a new chair and vice-chair for the network.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as:

The euthusiam for these intiatives was reflected in an overall event rating of 4 out of 5 stars, highlighting the value of mentoring and public speaking opportunities within the industry.
The launch marks the begininng of an exciting journey, and we look forward to seeing the CWM Future’s Network continue to grow and inspire professionals across our sector.
