Location: Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Contract Duration: November 2010 – August 2012
Scheme: Sparkbrook Community Health Centre and Church – New build
Project Description: This project comprised a new design and build three storey health and community centre and a church in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. The unique facilities integrate the services of the Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust, Birmingham City Council and the Church of England to provide new GP and nurse facilities, urgent care facilities, ancillary clinics, a pharmacy, dental facility and library. One wing of the building also accommodates Birmingham City Council’s new generation of customer services centres, replacing temporary accommodation and there are four rooms for use by the community and for events.
In addition, the centre includes six offices for start‐up social enterprises or businesses that could potentially benefit the local community. A secure garden to the rear of the centre is also available to community room users, while the concourse area at the building’s entrance acts as both a waiting area for patients and a community library.
